Known. Two swords and bear claws were found at a Viking Age burial.
The place is Viby/Norrtuna, outside Köping, in Västmanland, Sweden. Workers opened three stone chambers in a burial mound. In one grave, two swords stood upright in the soil. The swords are thought to have been made in the Late Iron Age, around 600 to 1000 AD. Bear claws, a piece of comb, a gaming piece, and many glass beads were found at the burial as well.
Experts still do not know if the upright swords were grave markers, or if the claws came from a pet bear.
