Known. A Viking sword was found lying open in the sand.
Hunters came upon it at Skaftárhreppur, in South Iceland. It was not buried. It is double-edged. The Cultural Heritage Agency of Iceland dates it to about 950 AD, or even earlier. It is only the 23rd sword from Viking times found in Iceland.
The page does not say what is still argued.
