A hoard of solid gold was not found.
Debated. Small flakes of gold leaf were still in a tomb full of water.
The tomb is under a pyramid at Nuri, in northern Sudan. It belongs to a Kushite ruler named Nastasen, who ruled from 335 BC to 315 BC. The page calls the tomb about 2,300 years old. Rulers here were buried under their pyramids, not inside them. A stair of 65 steps runs down into the rock. Part of the way down, the steps meet the water. In the dark rooms, small glass figures were still there. They had once been covered with gold leaf. The water had ruined the glass, but a little gold flake was still on them.
The page does not say what is still argued.
