A bronze head buried under temple steps

Meroë, Sudan. 27 to 25 BC. Greece and Rome. Debated. Free

The page does not show, as a fact, that a one-eyed queen defeated Rome.

Debated. A bronze head was buried under the steps of a temple at Meroë.

The head is life-size and made of bronze. It shows the Roman emperor Augustus. It comes from Meroë in Sudan, and the page dates it to 27 to 25 BC. It had been buried under the steps of a Kushite temple.

The page does not say what is still argued.
