The dig did not show that King Arthur was born there.
Debated. Folklore links this place with Arthur. The walls and the pottery are a separate find.
At Tintagel, in Cornwall, diggers found remains of walls they believe date to the 6th century. The study looks at the site in the 5th to 7th centuries. They found about 150 pieces of pottery and glass, mostly from the Mediterranean, including part of a large storage jar and pieces of a red-slip dish from western Turkey. Researchers think rulers of the kingdom of Dumnonia may have lived here and brought in goods from far away. A stone castle was built on the same ground in the 1230s and 1240s, long after these walls.
The page says it is still not settled whether the Arthur stories are myth, fact, or both.
