A gold face cover from Mycenae

Mycenae, Greece. the 16th century BC. First cities. Monsters and heroes. Debated. Free

The page does not show that this mask belonged to King Agamemnon.

Debated. The gold mask is real, but the page says it is too old to be that king.

At Mycenae, in Greece, shaft graves held the remains of several chiefs. Five had gold face covers. One shows a bearded man, hammered from a thick sheet of gold. The page says the mask is from the 16th century BC, and that the graves are at least 300 years older than the Trojan War.

People once said this mask was Agamemnon's. The page says that cannot be right.
