A rebuilt helmet from a ship burial

Sutton Hoo, East Anglia. between AD 610 and AD 635. Greece and Rome. Monsters and heroes. Debated. Free

The page does not show that the helmet was made in Denmark.

Debated. The helmet is real, but a new find only casts doubt on where it was made.

At Sutton Hoo, in the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of East Anglia, people found a ship burial from between AD 610 and AD 635. The ship had rotted away and left its shape in the soil. The page says a person was buried there, but the bones could no longer be identified. The helmet was in pieces, and it was later rebuilt. It shows a rider on a horse. For a long time, scholars said the helmet came from Sweden. A small metal stamp from the Danish island of Taasinge looks very like that picture.

The page says it is too early to decide where the helmet was made.
