Clay pots with a copper cylinder and an iron rod

Khujut Rabu, near Baghdad. about 2,000 years old. Greece and Rome. Unexplained. Debated. Free

A battery was not shown.

Debated. People do not agree what the pots were for.

At Khujut Rabu, near Baghdad, more than one clay pot was found. The page says the village is about 2,000 years old, from the Parthian period, between 250 BC and 224 AD. Each pot has a copper cylinder. An iron rod hangs in the centre and does not touch the copper. A plug of asphalt holds them in place.

People still argue whether the pots were storage jars, or tools that made a small electric charge. Many scholars think they were ordinary jars.
